What is "Agnosthetic" anyway?

from the Ancient Greek ἄγνωστος + αἴσθησῐς

ἄγνωστος • (ágnōstos) m or f (neuter ἄγνωστον); adjective

  1. unknown, unheard of, forgotten
  2. unknowable
  3. unintelligible
  4. not knowing, ignorant

αἴσθησῐς • (aísthēsĭs) f (genitive αἰσθήσεως); noun

  1. Perception from the senses, feeling, hearing, seeing
  2. Perception by the intellect as well as the senses
  3. That which is perceived
  4. Ability to perceive
  5. Cognition or discernment of moral discernment in ethical matters

Agnosthetic is an attempt to sense what is unknowable. An attempt to get out of my mind and feel digitally embodied in my writing. What does that mean? I'm not sure, but it feels right.

Agnosthetic is an independent publication launched in November 2025 by Dr. Natalie R. Sheppard as a place to share thoughts on comics and pop culture, pedagogy, and whatever else comes to mind.

If you subscribe today (for free!), you'll get email newsletters from Agnosthetic direct to your inbox. Signing up will also allow you to comment on posts, but there's no content locked behind a membership or paywall. Feel free to read along without giving me your email.
